Hanook Gohil came to this country to learn more about God and Christianity. He wanted to take that information back to his native country of India. That dream fell short when he died in a car accident last month. However, his wife, Esther Jadhav, says she plans to carry on his legacy and fulfill his dreams.

Dozens of Gohil's classmates, friends, and fellow worshipers gathered at Lexington United Methodist Church Monday evening to honor him. They sang songs and shared memories. Many remembered Gohil as a person who made others feel special and was always happy.

Gohil died in a car accident on May 15th. His friend, Charles Jacob was also killed in the crash along highway 68 in Jessamine County.

Jadhav said her husband dreamed of building a school in India because he "believed that education empowered people." She said it is her hope to make that dream of his come true someday. The offering collected at Monday's memorial will go towards building that school.

Gohil was buried in India alongside his mother who ironically also died in a car accident. Some 2,000 people attended his funeral there.
