Flood cleanup continues in Clay City

Days after the rain has stopped and there are still plenty of roads in Clay City that lead to nowhere. But as the water leaves, the damage it's leaving behind isn't.

Roads throughout the county are still covered in water far too deep to drive through. While some businesses were able to keep the water out with sandbags, not all structures made it through the rain.

A house on Skinner Branch was knocked off it's foundation by a mudslide. The woman who lived inside was home when a portion of her back wall was knocked in by the mud. Her neighbor helped her get out before the whole house slid down the hill.

The water came on quickly. People living along main street in Clay City say it rose up out of the Red River and covered the road in just a few hours.

At least one lane of Main Street in Clay City will be closed for some time. Not only do they have to drain the water away from it, but they have to repair the part of the road that the water washed away.
