A Friday night car ride turned deadly for a Harrison County teen who was just days away from graduating from high school.

Seventeen-year-old Brittany Cordray died following a car accident on Colville Road in Bourbon County Friday night. She and three of her friends were reportedly heading out to the Colville Covered Bridge to hang out. Cordray lost control of her car in a sharp turn about one mile from the bridge. The car flipped and landed upside down in a pond. Cordray's three friends managed to get out the vehicle and struggled to free her. It took several minutes to get her out of the car and when they did, they performed CPR but were unable to revive her. Cordray was transported to UK Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Cordray was a senior at Harrison County High School where she was a captain on the Color Guard. She also played clarinet in the marching band.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
