Christmas Store in Lexington expecting to help thousands

Updated: Wed 8:17 PM, Dec 21, 2011

The annual "Faith and Community Christmas Store" opened in Lexington on Wednesday morning. The store allows parents to shop for free toys for their children.

By 6 p.m. Wednesday, almost a thousand people had come through the store. Organizers expect more than 3,000 people to come to the store by Friday.

Because of the large demand, the Faith and Community Christmas Store needs more donations. The group says they have plenty of clothes, but are in need of bikes and toys.

You can drop off donations at the store on Midland Avenue at Second Street.

For more information on donating or volunteering you can go to godsnet.info.

The store will be open until 8 tonight, and from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. However, store officials say if their demand is great and they get the donations they need, they'll stay open as long as they need to on Friday.
