Car hit by rocks thrown from overpass

Updated: Tue 8:33 PM, Mar 20, 2012

Police are looking for the people responsible for throwing rocks off of a railroad overpass in Lexington.

The rocks came hurtling down on Ironworks Pike late last night.
Katie Creech and her boyfriend Jessie Dominguez were driving home from work when all of the sudden they heard a loud thud. "We had no idea what it was," explains Creech, "then all of the sudden I felt all this glass all over me and I realized my windshield was shattered." Creech says she wasn't the only car hit either, "I don't think they realized that a cop was behind us, they tried to hit the car but their timing was off. The cop got out of his car and started shining his light, looking up at the overpass and into the woods but he wasn't able to see cause it was so dark."

The rocks left significant damage to Creech's windshield as well as the front part of her car. "They threw more than one rock at our car but the only one that really made an impact was the one that hit our windshield. I feel grateful that no one was seriously injured. This situation could have been a lot worse. If they had dropped it even a second earlier it probably would have hit the center part of my windshield and would have went all the way through."

Police say at this time they are still investigating the situation.

barely missing the cops car.
As the officer searched the area for the person or persons responsible ... Creech tried her best to gain her composure ...

possibly causing more damage to her car ... and to her and boyfriend JEssie Dominigez
