General showers will be the main action over the next few hours. A few could remain on the strong to severe side in eastern parts of Kentucky.
NICHOLASVILLE, KY. (WKYT) - Just last week they were raising money to help relatives of a family of five killed in a crash, now workers at a Jessamine County hair salon are mourning the death of one of their own.
Heads Up Hair Design owner Emily Horn helped organize a cut-a-thon for Steven and Shaila Hibbard and their three children who were killed in a crash. She says she had no idea she'd be collecting money again so soon after one of her stylists, 37-year-old Nicole Wardrip, was killed in a car crash.
"We were in shock," Horn said on Monday. "It was hard to believe, then you just saw all the comments and stuff on Facebook."
Danville police say Wardrip died Saturday after crashing on Old Shakertown Road. They're still trying to determine the cause.
Her father, Ronald Wardrip, is the sheriff of Garrard county.
"She was always happy, very outgoing, very full of life," Horn said. "She talked about her son and her dad constantly."
Horn has started to collect money at her shop with the intention of giving it to Wardrip's father, to eventually give to her grandson, who was born two days before she died.
"We're hoping to set up a savings account for her grandson that was just born."
Horn hopes it'll be one more way for Wardrip's grandson to know the woman who was so excited to see his life begin, even though her's came to an end.
"It's devastating, I grew up with all of my grandparents so it's hard to not know them," Horn said.
Wardrip's visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster. The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
