High pressure holds for one more day then our attention turns to the remnants of Isaac this upcoming Labor Day weekend. Fair skies and hotter conditions expected today with highs in the upper 80s. There will be a few more clouds over our far southern counties thanks to overflow cloud deck from Tropical Storm Isaac. It will be partly cloudy tonight with warmer overnight lows in the upper 60s.

Isaac is now a tropical storm with sustained winds around the eye at 45mph. It continues to churn over Central Louisiana with a slow forward motion to the northwest at 8mph. The storm will make slow progress toward Arkansas over the next 24 hours becoming a remnant low by the time it reaches the Louisiana/Arkansas border. The track could bring the remnant low near Illinois by late Saturday/early Sunday with the forecast fan stretching from Michigan to Kentucky by Labor Day/early Tuesday. The first batch of scattered showers and storms late Friday through Saturday with more widespread bouts of heavy rainfall possible Sunday and Monday (should the remnants take a more southerly path closer to Kentucky). There continues to be a lot of uncertainty with the extended forecast but you may want to have a contingency plan if you are planning any long-term outdoor activities.
