Kentucky State Police have charged an 18-year-old Lincoln County High School student for allegedly raping a fellow student on school property.
School officials say the alleged incident happened in the school gymnasium last Tuesday. Police have arrested 18 year-old Christopher Allen. He's charged with first degree rape for an incident authorities say happened behind a stage in the gym, with a girl school officials say he was familiar with, and is a minor.
"The school actually reported the incident to the police, of course that's in our procedures and we followed all of our procedures when we learned that this had happened before school on Tuesday morning," said Lincoln County Superintendent Karen Hatter.
An arrest warrant issued for Allen accuses him of forcing the victim behind the stage, even though she stated several times she did not want to. It also says Allen forced the victim to engage in sexual intercourse.
Allen is being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center, and pled not guilty in court Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, school officials say they made some changes the last few days school was in session, before it let out for the summer Wednesday.
"We tightened up our supervision by the adults in the building," said Hatter. "We restricted their activity within easily supervised spaces - of course this happened in a space they weren't supposed to be anyway."
School officials say Allen is a senior and would have been graduating Thursday.
