HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Several fire departments are battling a large blaze in a building that has filled downtown Huntington with smoke.

Media outlets report the fire erupted Sunday in the upper floors of the Morris Building, which houses several offices, residential dwellings and two ground-floor restaurants.

Cabell County emergency services director Gordon Merry says all occupants of the building left safely. No injuries were immediately reported.

Flames were seen shooting through the building's roof. Firefighters worked to keep the fire from jumping to adjacent buildings, but two ladder trucks were taken down by late morning due to the threat of high winds from an approaching thunderstorm. Streets surrounding the building were closed.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known.
