We have a quiet start night ahead of us as we turn our attention toward a potential winter storm for late this weekend. That may bring a wintry mess to our region.
In the short term... temps tonight will drop to 10-15 degrees for most of the area. Gusty winds will make it feel colder than that.
Thermometers rebound toward the 40 degree mark on Friday as clouds roll in. Those clouds may produce a rain or snow shower Friday night. Saturday will see gusty winds and temps nearing 50.
That all comes crashing down on Sunday as a cold front settles into the region. That will knock the temps down from northwest to southeast as a storm works from the southwest. The track of this storm looks to be across the Tennessee River Valley and that could spell trouble.
Snow, freezing rain, sleet and rain will all be likely from late Sunday into Monday. Significant amounts of wintry precipitation will be possible. This is one we will be watching closely in the coming days.
