LEXINGTON, Ky. -- This summer's Lexington Restaurant Week has been announced for the last week in July, hosted by the Lexington Convention & Visitors' Bureau.
The event's aim is to increase business at the area's local restaurants, by exposing them to people who may not even know they exist yet.
Lexington will hold its inaugural "Beyond Grits" event from July 25 to August 3. Several locally-owned restaurants have signed on to offer $25 meals.
Along with the event, the Visitors' Bureau has published a culinary guide to 106 of Lexington's locally-owned restaurants, broken down by cuisine.
Lexington Convention and Visitors' Bureau President Jim Browder says the Lexington Restaurant Week will showcase the unique flavor of the Bluegrass.
"We have quite a diverse culinary selection here," he told WKYT's Sean Moody. "That's the beauty of this. It's not like you're getting strictly southern food. I mean, we've got foods from all over the world here."
Organizers say that more restaurants may be added to the event as it approaches.
