:LEXINGTON, Ky. - Today is the day that many will give flowers to show their love ... and for florists, that makes this one of the busiest days of the year.
WKYT's Kari Hall caught up with a Lexington florist this afternoon, working to get all those last minute orders in place.
The phones were ringing constantly, with customers walking in the door one right after another. Today was the day those in the business of spreading love ... have been waiting for.
"It's just a great feeling to have it all come together," said Mary Jo Johnson, who owns the Best of Flowers shop in Lexington. "It's months of planning and organizing, and it's just a celebration."
And although it's non-stop work for florists, it's a labor of love. "They were here this morning at 7 o'clock and we have five trucks on the road, and each person has a runner. They're going all day until about five o'clock," said Johnson.
This is a very hectic day for delivery drivers and each stop is very quick, with one driver and one runner. The drop is made and it's on to the next.
Since the florists were so busy today, it looks like a lot of guys will be getting extra points from their sweethearts.
