The flash flood threat increases late tonight and into Thursday. Rounds of storms may dump a lot of rain across our region.
RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT)-Madison County Sheriff's Deputies have connected 18-year-old James Fitzpatrick to at least two auto thefts and now say he could be connected to many more.
"He was pretty good at what he was doing," commented Dep. Willard Reardon of the Madison County Sheriff's Office as he released some details of his investigation.
Deputy Reardon says a patrol officer spotted a black Dodge that was reported stolen off Crutcher Pike parked outside of a gas station around midnight Saturday.
"Sure enough, it was Mr. Fitzpatrick. He was coming out of the store and they were able to take him into custody."
Officers say the 18-year-old had been spotted around town several times and always managed to elude police. They say he was responsible for dumping a stolen jeep in the Jigwater Creek earlier this month.
"There are several other agencies, Kentucky State Police, finding out he's hit multiple counties. Right now, we don't know how many other victims are out there."
Reardon says his department is working with several agencies now to see if Fitzpatrick is connected to them.
