We arrived Saturday morning so we could do some research on Colorado's ATV trails. They seen to be at a similar level of development as we are however they are less organized and don't have a master plan for developing trails. They seemed very envious that Kentucky has a statewide Adventure Tourism initiative. We also drove to the NRA Whittington Center, a 32,000 acre shooting and hunting preserve in Raton, New Mexico that receives 170,000 visitors a year. Such a place could be a great fit for Eastern Kentucky as we work to make Kentucky a world-class Adventure Tourism destination.
Convention activities are just beginning as delegates get instructions. Most of the activities are taking place in the Pepsi Center, home of the NBA Denver Nuggets. Barack Obama's acceptance speech will be Thursday night in the Invesco Mile High Stadium, holding 80,000. The first time since John F Kennedy's acceptance speech to be held outdoors.
There has been some protesters but much fewer than expected. Otherwise things are very orderly and well organized.
Will report from the convention floor tomorrow again tomorrow and as events happen.
Thanks
Daniel
