A former chair of the Republican National Committee and Inez native says Kentucky should find other ways to generate revenue than slot machines at horse tracks.
Mike Duncan says there is one way he thinks the commonwealth could save money.
“One thing that I have seen proposed recently is on prevailing wage for school facilities. If we weren't paying a prevailing wage on local courthouses and school facilities, it would save hundreds of millions of dollars for the citizens of Kentucky,” Duncan said.
Duncan served as chair of the republican national committee during a portion of the George W. Bush presidency.
He's now chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

This obviously wasn't very well explained. The so-called "prevailing wage" is a grossly inflated wage that is a tool of labor unions and their political allies to discourage fair competition on bids for public works construction projects. Several studies, including a major one in 2001 by the Kentucky's Legislative Research Commission, have concluded that prevailing wage laws result in significant waste of tax dollars on public works construction projects.

Take the Cell Phones and Cars that the state and UK provide for some employees and let them pay for a phone or car to use the rest of us do.

Is he saying we should pay less than the minimum wage for school and courthouse workers? He is a true Republican, make up deficits by taking money from some of the lowest paid workers in the state. Why not raise the taxes on the rich instead?
