The #10 Prestonsburg Blackcats sit at 2-1, with a bragging rites game this Friday versus #3 Belfry.
Pburg worked it's way back into the mountain top ten after reeling off a road win at Sheldon Clark and a 26-6 victory over Lawrence County last week at home. Now, the Blackcats are trying to get ready for the undefeated Pirates much like coach Haywood is preparing for Prestonsburg, trying to progress toward the post-season.
"But I liked our team effort last week. I thought the second half we kind of eased off a little bit. We could've played a little harder in the second half, but Lawrence County is a good football program. They're coached well and their kids were going to play hard and try to come back. I felt like our defense.," say head coach John Derossett.
"We asked them at halftime to try and get some three and outs and they did that. Offensively we would've liked to do some more things in the second half but it just dind't happen. We were glad to come away with the win and now we're probably playing the best 3A team in the state right now."
The Appalachian Wireless Game of the Week is set for 7:30pm Friday night. You can watch it live on WYMT as coach John Derossett and his #10 Blackcats will play host to the #3 Belfry Pirates, and of course you can also catch the game on wymtnews.com.
