Butler County placed a lot of importance on its game Friday night with Edmonson County - even calling for fans to "Blue Out" Morgantown for the occasion.
The ploy worked.
Jessie Stivers finished 12-of-18 passing for 129 yards as the host Bears (5-1, 3-1 Class AAA District 2) beat Edmonson County 14-7.
The win concluded district play for the Bears, locking up a home playoff game with a guaranteed second-place district finish.
The Wildcats (4-2, 1-2) gained 218 yards on the ground but quarterback Brent Smith could only manage 73 yards on 7-of-20 passing.
Next week, the Bears are off before hosting Muhlenberg North on Oct. 17th. The Wildcats visit Clay County.
