For a long time Friday night at El Donaldson Stadium, it appeared Franklin-Simpson might put an end to its losing streak against Bowling Green.
But in the fourth quarter, the Purples had just what they needed to pull away from the Wildcats again.
Tevin Barksdale accounted for three touchdowns - including the go-ahead score with less than two minutes left in the third quarter - to lead host Bowling Green (5-1) to a 49-34 win.
The Purple victory wasted a huge effort from Franklin-Simpson quarterback Courtney Dalcourt. He led the Wildcats (3-3) with 21-of-27 passing for 294 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and a score on 20 carries. Patrick Flippin chipped in 71 yards and another tally on 13 attempts.
Bowling Green got all it needed from Barksdale, who finished with 188 yards and three touchdowns on 20 rushing attempts, which including an eye-popping 48-yarder in the second quarter that put the Purples in front 14-7 at the time.
Next week, the Purples visit Grayson County for a district matchup while the Wildcats are off before hosting Muhlenberg South Oct. 17th.
