Warren Central snapped a three-game losing streak and got the second half of its season off to a terrific start Friday night, downing host Barren County 55-0.
The Dragons (2-4, 1-1 Class 5A District 2) got a good effort on the ground from quarterback Troy Halcomb, who carried ten times for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Tabarus Mitchell added 38 yards and two more scores on eight carries for Warren Central, who outgained the Trojans 322-97 in total offense.
Barren County (2-5, 0-2) was led by Gill Thomas' 23 yards rushing on six carries but never established an offensive flow. Quarterback Colton Phelps finished just 2-for-11 passing for 28 yards on the night.
Warren Central visits surging Greenwood for a cross-town rivalry next week while the Trojans start a two-game road swing with a trip to Adair County.
