Poynter Named New Coach at Bourbon
Bourbon County will look to a former assistant coach to revive its struggling football program. Johnny Poynter, an assistant on the the school's state championship team in 1997, will assume head coaching duties this summer.

Bourbon County will look to a former assistant coach to revive its struggling football program. Johnny Poynter, an assistant on the the school's state championship team in 1997, will assume head coaching duties this summer.
Poynter was the head coach at Trimble County, where he guided the Raiders to their first winning season in 28 years, the first playoff win in school history and became the school's all-time winningest coach in just five seasons. He as NCKC Coach of the Year twice and district coach of the year once.
Poynter had similar success at Pike County Central. The Hawks had the highest district finish in school history and won the Pke County Bowl three times.
Poynter is also well-known for his knowledge of the A - 11 offense, which brings together the spead offense, the west coast offense and the run and shoot.
