It was less than a month ago that Leslie Eagle broke Morgan County's all-time scoring record, surpassing Leigh Ann Kelly-Wireman's mark of 1,881 points. Now the Lady Cougar senior has reached yet another milestone with her 2,000th point of her career.

"To have my name associated with 2,000 points is something I'll remember for the rest of my life," said Eagle on Tuesday. "From the time I was a freshman, that was my goal, to score 2,000 points. To realize that goal is unbelievable."

The milestone basket came on a left-handed layup in the third quarter of the Lady Cougars' 20-point blowout of Bath County. Eagle finished with 16 points, including two-three point baskets in the first period.

"It's been a joy to coach Lou and see her achieve something like this," said Lady Cougar coach Jeff Brown. "She's a special player who makes everyone around her better. When Lou is on top of her game, her teammates follow suit. I'm so happy for her."

"Leslie has been a phenomenal player her entire career," said MCHS athletic director Chris Trusty. "The thing that makes her 2,000 points so amazing is that she's done it in a very unselfish manner. She's also among the best passing guards in the region. She makes everything look so easy."

Many of Eagle's baskets during her career have come courtesy of her outstanding defense. Perhaps no one in the region anticipates the passing lanes better than Eagle, which has led to her specialty---transition baskets.

"When she gets out on the break, she's hard to stop," Brown said of his star guard. "She can hurt the opponent in so many ways. It's great to have Leslie on your side."
