The 2009 Food City Summer Slam Volleyball Tournament came to a close Saturday night at Prestonsburg High School Gym.

The Lady Bobcats of Betsy Layne defeated the Lady Cougars of Letcher Central 25-23 and 25-17 to win the Food City Gold Division Championship. The Lady Bobcats left it all on the court as they played 6 games on Saturday to win the Championship.

The Silver Division Championship was played earlier in the night and the Fillies of Harrison County HS defeated the Lady Knights of Piarist 25-11 and 25-17 to become the Silver Division Champions. The Food City Summer Slam was started last year to promote girls volleyball in the mountains and it has become a huge success.
