Scott County's Richie Phares has informed Louisville head coach Rick Pitino that he will accept the Cardinals walk-on offer. Richie's father, Ford Phares, confirmed that to 27 Sportsfirst this morning.
According to Ford Phares, Richie met with Rick Pitino on a number of occassions, telling the family he would love to offer him a scholarship but there isn't one to give. If one becomes available in the near future Phares will get one.
All the other coaches who have been recruiting Richie Phares have been informed of the Scott County stars decision. Phares is currently recovering from an ACL tear that happened during the first half of 11th Region Semifinals. An injury that kept Richie from playing in the 11th Region finals where the Cardinals lost to Lexington Catholic.
