BB&T Presents an Evening with Lisa Niemi Swayze

On Thursday, September 20, Lisa Niemi Swayze will be in Lexington to share the story of her journey with her late husband, actor Patrick Swayze, through his terminal illness. Lisa will share her story of caring for Patrick during this time and her experiences of walking through end-of-life issues with a loved one.The event, which will benefit Hospice of the Bluegrass, will be held at the Signature Club in Lexington.

Lisa Niemi Swayze has spent decades in the film industry. She wrote, directed and produced the film One Last Dance in 2004. In addition to other projects, she directed her husband, Patrick, in “My Brother’s Keeper,” one of the episodes from the acclaimed television series The Beast in 2008.

Most recently, she has released a book titled “Worth Fighting For,” which chronicles her last months with Patrick, her husband of thirty-four years, as he battled pancreatic cancer. An emotionally honest and unflinching depiction of battling illness and loss, it is also an incredible life-affirming exploration of the power of the human spirit. Niemi Swayze will hold a book signing immediately following the event.
