CRIMESTOPPERS: Thief targeting female shoppers

Police call it a crime of opportunity. They say a man stole purses from two women in two different stores, and tried to shop with their credit cards.

On July 23, Lexington Police say the man went to the salon inside Dillards in Fayette Mall to pick his first victim. "The victim set her purse in a chair; suspect took her purse" says Lexington Detective Nate Williams. "About half an hour later at a nearby location a second victim had her purse stolen in a shopping cart as she shopped for groceries."

You can see on video from Walmart the man waited to make his move. Police say he got away in an older model Dodge Ram truck with a silver toolbox in the bed.

Lexington Police say the man tried to buy gift cards with the stolen cards at a Lowes nearby.

Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Call Crimestoppers today at 859-253-2020, it's a free call and it's anonymous.
