Crime Stoppers: Police search for hotel robber

A masked man held up a Lexington hotel, and police think the suspect could be behind another crime too.

Now they hope some surveillance video will help them make an arrest.

Police say a man burst through the front doors of the Red Roof Inn on Wilhite Drive November 15, and held up the clerk, who was working alone.

"Initially told her to open the safe," Lexington Police Det. Steve McCowan said. "She was unable to do that, so he demanded money out of the drawer."

After getting the cash, police say the man, who was wearing a black bubble coat, dark clothing, a hoodie, and ski mask, ran out.

Officers say a quick search for the area brought them no closer to making an arrest.

As the search continues, police say the man may be responsible for another armed robbery.

"We believe he may be connected to another robbery at the Subway, which is in close proximity," McCowan said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Call Crime Stoppers today at 859-253-2020. It's a free call, and it's anonymous.
