Crime Stoppers: Neighbors warned to be on alert for arsonist

Fire investigators got a few leads in the case that went nowhere. Now they are hoping you'll have the answer.

"We're asking the public to remain vigilant. The smallest piece of information might not seem like a big deal, but the smallest lead might be the missing piece of the puzzle," said Major Mark Blankenship with the Lexington Fire Department.

Blankenship says the arsonist has targeted everything from area dumpsters to cars, and even an occupied duplex. While no serious injuries have been reported so far, fire officials say, if the person or people responsible aren't caught soon, lives are still in danger.

"It's extremely frustrating because of the amount of risk it puts the public in, as well as well as the firefighters that are responding up there. Any time you've got someone setting fires, especially at a time when people are sleeping, there's a big risk that people aren't gonna wake up," said Blankenship.
