Crime Stoppers: Check fraud suspect caught on tape

Posted: 9:34 AM Apr 17, 2012

Police say a man is cashing fake checks at the expense of businesses.

Surveillance cameras captured video of the suspect walking into the Marathon on New Circle Road to cash a check from Kentucky Utilities. Several days later workers at the gas station realized they were the victims of fraud.

"It takes several days for the banks and businesses to catch up to this person. That's why they're going to do it several times before they're caught," said Detective Robert Sarrantonio.

Detective Sarrantonio says that investigators believe this man has struck other area businesses a few times before.

"We're hoping with this surveillance video someone's able to identify him because he's done it a few times before."
