Government officials will be in eastern Kentucky on Thursday to unveil a new housing development intended to save energy.
U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers is among the dignitaries who will be on hand as the Near Zero Energy Housing Development in Whitley County is displayed. A statement announcing the event says the houses will be near zero energy, meaning they will not only save energy but will also generate energy to be sold back to the electric utility through a solar power system.
The development is located in Emlyn, near Williamsburg.
The statement says the goal of the development is to apply and share design and building innovations for future homes and other affordable housing developers.
