20-year-old Charles Walden's mother has told 27 NEWSFIRST that her son is in a coma and on life support at UK Hospital after being hit by a state police cruiser.

She also says he's listed in critical condition.

Police say Walden was walking along Barnes Mill Road in Madison County Friday night when Trooper Michael Luttrell's cruiser hit him.

State police say they are investigating.
