Phillips addresses SEC Media Day

Posted: 12:42 PM Jul 18, 2012

UK coach Joker Phillips took his turn at the podium at SEC Media Day in Hoover, Alabama. Phillips said the goal is to "take long, lean athletes, bring them into your program and watch them grow."

Phillips pointed out that 24 of Kentucky's top 44 players are underclassmen. He said quarterback and running back will be the two positions with the most competition, with quarterback as deep as its ever been talent wise.

But Phillips said that running back Josh Clemons who tore his meniscus midway through last season will be limited in fall camp, working out maybe two days each week.

As for being on the hot seat Phillips said he didn't have time to think about those things. "I'm not sitting down right now so there's nothing hot."

Phillips said he is adding former UK defensive lineman Jeremy Jarmon to his staff as assistant director of football operations.
