BIG STONE GAP, Va (WYMT) - Cue the lights, camera, action!

Hollywood has come to the mountains as filming is underway for a movie starring Ashley Judd, Patrick Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg.

The movie is the talk of the town for locals at the Dari Delite, which is a local restaurant frequented by locals.

Gary Hall owns the business and said folks are excited to see a celebrity.

"Since all the stars have arrived, yeah, everybody has been running around town trying to catch a glimpse of one of the stars," said Hall.

Recently, film crews descended on the town to make "Big Stone Gap", a movie based on a series of novels by Adriana Trigiana.

Trigiana is a Big Stone Gap native.

Having film crews is a rare brush with stardom that many in town are enjoying.

Inside the Vintage on Main shop, owner Patty Akers will have a claim to fame.

"At first they bought some things off me and then they come in and wanted some more and I just donated some things to them to put in the movie, which I am very happy to help them with," said Akers.

She said folks with the film crew bought lamps, jewelry and other items.

"That is neat that they chose us to do their props with and not bring their own things. I was really glad about that, shocked too because I do not know a lot about movie making," said Akers.

Besides just the "cool" factor of the movie, locals hope this will bring more people and money to the area.

"People are real excited. Our town is going down due to the coal mines and we are hoping this will bring tourists and all that stuff," said Akers.

Hall said he thinks the impact for the town will be long lasting.

"We will probably see more impact from this about a year or two down the road," said Hall.

The film will feature locals as extras.

The city manager said they plan to sell merchandise that will promote both the town and the movie.

Those will be available in shops around town.
