MANCHESTER, Ky (WYMT) - A Clay County man is dead and the coroner said he was murdered.
Friends and family of Carl House said they are still in shock.
Virgil Buttrey knew House and said he did not deserve this..
"I spent all I could with him. He was good to me. He was like a daddy to me, you know, there was not nothing I would not do for him," said Buttrey.
Carl House is the victim's cousin.
He said Carl was a caring man.
"He would take his shirt off his back for you," said House.
Around six o'clock on Wednesday, Kentucky State Police got a call that a body had been found on Ben House Road along the Laurel-Clay County line..
Buttrey said he knew something was wrong when he could not get in touch with House.
"I kept calling, kept calling, kept calling and I never could get no answer. Then my aunt called and told me, you know, they had found him shot down there," said Buttrey.
The Clay County Coroner said House suffered multiple gunshots wounds and that is why he is ruling it a homicide.
Buttrey said House lived alone and he does not know who would do something like this.
"He did not have any enemies whatsoever. Whoever done it is cruel," said Buttrey.
Robert House is still in shock from hearing the news.
"He is a good guy, done anything for anybody. He did not deserve it. Just cannot believe he is gone," said House.
The men said they want justice and hope police catch those responsible.
"That will be a big justice in my book. They ought to be hung, throw them out to the alligators to eat," said Buttrey.
KSP said they are investigating House's death and ask folks to call them if they have any information about the case.

House's body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner's Office.
