ANNVILLE, Ky (WYMT) - It is a video you have to see to believe!
A Jackson County woman got the shock of her life when she checked her home security camera and saw a fireball flying across the sky.
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a UFO? Not exactly, but what Dorsie Allen caught on her home's security camera Tuesday night is still pretty amazing.
"It just looked like a big fire ball," said Allen.
So what was it? Experts tells WYMT her camera actually captured what appears to be a meteor.
"We just thought we had caught something lots of other people had caught. We did not know it would be so rare," said Allen.
But her video of light streaking across the Jackson County sky is rare because it is getting shared, shared and shared again on Facebook.
"I was just shocked that it went that crazy. I really was," said Allen.
Many locals, like Jesse Cochran, said what they saw was almost unbelievable and even a little scary.
"It chilled me to my spine. It made my hair stand up. It was one of those things where you do not know what you are seeing and your mind races. It was very weird," said Cochran.
Cochran added an experience like that happens once in a life time.
"I was pretty fortunate to see it. If I do see another one, I will probably go buy a lottery ticket that day," said Cochran.
Allen said she could not agree more.
"That was getting just a little too close to home when you can see it that clear. Fire falling from the sky is just kind of scary," said Allen.
Allen added this is not the first time that camera has caught what they believe to be a meteor crossing the sky. She said they captured a smaller one just last year.
