Inflatable colon in Hazard teaches locals about cancer prevention

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - It is pretty hard to miss!

Folks who stopped by the Hazard Walmart on Tuesday got quite the surprise as they did their daily errands.

That is because there was an enormous, inflatable colon on display most of the day.

The ARH Cancer Center, along with other area cancer groups, partnered to put the event together.

Oncologist Raymond Elsoueidi tells WYMT that people who walked through the inflatable could learn about the importance getting a colonoscopy and overall colon health.

"The inflatable will show the people how it looks in the beginning and how it gets bigger and progresses and moves through the bowels and then spreads somewhere else," said Elsoueidi.

Doctors recommend anyone over the age of 50 have a colonoscopy.
