Kentucky State Police accepting applications for new cadet class

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police are looking for their next trooper cadet class and if you want to apply, there is still time. KSP are taking applications until April first.

Anyone interested in applying can contact their local post or go online to www.kentuckystatepolice.org.

Applicants must be US citizens, 21 years or older and have good moral character. In addition, they must possess one of the following:

60 college credit hours
Two years active duty in the military
Two years experience as sworn, full-time, law enforcement officer

Testing will be held at the following locations and dates:

Wednesday, March 26th at 9:00 a.m. in Richmond, Kentucky at the Funderburk Building
Friday, March 26th at 9:00 a.m. in Richmond, Kentucky at the Funderburk Building
Wednesday, April 2nd at 9:00 a.m. in Bowling Green, Kentucky at Western Kentucky University
Thursday, April 3rd at 9:00 a.m. in Richmond, Kentucky at the Funderburk Building
Friday, April 4th at 9:00 a.m. in Richmond, Kentucky at the Funderburk Building

Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims said he looks forward to seeing the new recruits.

"Make sure it is a heart felt decision because if in your heart that is something you want to do, then you should have success with it," said Sims.

At this time, KSP expect the new cadet class to be about 75 people.
