HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - If you found yourself in Perry County on Thursday, you probably noticed a lot of pink.

That is because October 17th is Paint Perry Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Kentucky River Community Care created a special game for the day.

It is called Recovery Land, which is a play on the popular kids' game Candy Land.

Staff with KRCC worked on the game since about April.

Cheryl Bryant-Bowling helped organize the event and said their inspiration to spread awareness about breast cancer is a personal one.

Elizabeth Bryant works with the KRCC staff and she has been a breast cancer survivor for almost a decade.

"We see hope in her and we see that she has been a survivor. So we know that we can give encouragement to other ladies and increase the awareness here," said Bryant-Bowling.

Organizers said they hope everyone, both men and women, will keep an eye on their health and get yearly screenings.
