MANCHESTER, Ky (WYMT) - A Clay County man is recovering after police say his wife shot him.

Kentucky State Police said Beverly Smith shot her husband Doug Smith twice after three days of fighting.

It happened at the Smith's home on Hogskin Road just before six o'clock Monday evening.

KSP Trooper Lloyd Cochran said the couple has a history of domestic violence.

"They determined that the female victim had been assaulted over the past several days by her husband. Further investigation from the detectives revealed that another altercation had taken place just yesterday," said Cochran.

No one faces charges at this time.

The couple's 12-year-old son was home during the shooting.

He called 911.

Police released that call to WYMT but because of the child's age, we decided not to air the tapes.
