VICCO, Ky (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police in Hazard are on the look out after two gas stations, both in Perry County, were robbed at gunpoint Monday night. Police tell WYMT they are not convinced these two crimes are connected.
Two robberies at two different locations both within a two hour window might lead some to think there is one thing connecting the crimes. But Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims is not sure.
"They had different clothing, different masks or bandannas. There is no car to tie the two together," said Sims.
The Vicco Kwik Mart was robbed shortly after 10:00 on Monday night. In that robbery, the man made off with more than $200.00 after threatening an employee with a gun.
"The clerk was uninjured and he described the subject as approximately six feet tall, wearing a blue jacket, khaki pants and a red bandanna over his face," said Sims.
However, the person wielding a similar weapon at Ramey's BP in Cornettsville around 11:00 p.m. was not so lucky.
KSP said he only got away with about $20.00.
With no leads in either case, Cornett's Whiskey Store Manager Amanda Turner is worried about her safety at work.
"That was one of the first things that popped into my head that you know, maybe we are next," said Turner.
The business sits just around the corner from Ramey's.
"Since I have worked here, we have been hit twice," said Turner.
She added that she has considered adding extra security at the store.
If you have any information that can help KSP regarding these robberies, you are asked to call the Hazard Post.
