WILLIAMSBURG, Ky (WYMT) - While many fans have flocked to Georgia for the University of the Cumberlands' big game Saturday, the excitement is building back home in Williamsburg too.

David Bergman is more than just a fan. He is also a graduate, alumni director and history buff of all things University of the Cumberlands.

"I have been affiliated with this school for quite some time and I do not remember anything as exciting as this," said Bergman.

Now that his team is on the road to a national championship, he cannot help but reflect on the historic nature of their accomplishment.

"This is going to give us an opportunity to reach out to alumni with an exciting event and really showcase a fabulous football team," said Bergman.

A team that started from humble beginnings, their undefeated season has created quite the buzz around town. At the campus book store, manager Wayne Cecil tells WYMT they have seen a boost in sales, all thanks to that Patriot pride.

"We have had lot of people coming in shopping, getting souvenirs. Everybody is really excited about it and you know, it is been a lot of fun just talking to everybody," said Cecil.

The topic of conversation? A patriot win of course.

"The Patriots are going to win for sure," said Cecil.

Bergman could not agree more.

"We are excited and I am going to predict a win for the Patriots," said Bergman.

Win or lose, we will have highlights of the game and fan reaction on Mountain News Weekend Edition.
