The warm weather this weekend made for the perfect weekend to be outdoors. On Saturday the Crime Stoppers Shootout drew in a big crowd to help fight crime.

Many people in the area showed up at the annual event at the police range off Parkers Mill Road.

A little more than 115 people showed up with proceeds from the event going to Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that rewards people to anonymously report crime. We bring you those Crime Stopper stories weekly here on WKYT. Events like the shootout help raise the money that keep the organization going.

"Alot of times we will get tips that will lead to an arrest because of that and we have to have the money to pay out rewards. That's what our organization does is pay out rewards," Sue Miller, the Crime Stoppers chairperson said.

Along with shooting a gun, people were also able to bid on auction items and they were competing for trophies.

If you ever need to report a crime, remember, you can call Crime Stoppers. That number is 859-253-2020. It's an anonymous call and you could receive a cash reward.

You can make a donation to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers by sending checks to 150 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40507.
