Crime Stoppers: Ballpark burglary caught on tape

The home of the Lexington Legends became the scene of a crime over the summer.

Lexington Police say burglars broke into Whitaker Bank Ballpark twice and stole flat screen televisions.

On August 28, in the middle of the night, surveillance video shows a man and a woman breaking into the stadium and stealing the televisions.

Surveillance cameras were installed around the stadium after an earlier burglary on July 22, during which televisions were also stolen.

"Both times Dynex 32 inch flat screen TVs," Lexington Police Detective Carol Simms said of the burglaries. "The first time in July, they stole five. The one on the 28th (of August) they stole four."

Police say they don't believe the two responsible for the August break-in have any connection to the ballpark, and police still aren't sure how the suspects got inside.

Police believe the two burglaries are likely related.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to arrests in this case. Call Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020. It's a free call and it's anonymous.
