Since it began in 1987, Bluegrass Crime Stoppers has solved more than 6,000 cases, based on anonymous tips.
The program is a way for citizens to get involved in their community, and a way to help police get criminals off the streets.
Law enforcement agencies around central Kentucky have been able to get information on felony crimes, wanted persons, and other criminal activity through Crime Stoppers, that they would not be able to obtain otherwise.
The program has reawakened public interests in cases that had been considered 'cold' for many years.
The program has also been taken into area schools, teaching children not to be afraid to report criminal activity they see.
Crime Stoppers offers a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests. You can call in anonymous tips to 859-253-2020.
