Crime Stoppers: Burglary at Orange Leaf caught on tape

Investigators hope surveillance video will help them catch two people who broke into a Lexington frozen yogurt business last month.

In the early morning hours of October 18, Lexington Police say two masked men broke into the Orange Leaf on Romany Road.

Police say the burglars pried open the back door of the business, hoping to go unnoticed.

"They cut the wires to a box behind the building, thinking probably that it was the alarm system, which it wasn't," Lexington Police Detective Carol Simms said.

Police say the alarm went off and officers raced to the store.

However, both burglars were gone by the time police arrived. Police believe the burglars cased the business before breaking in.

"The way they came in through the back and went directly to the cash register tells me they knew a little about the layout behind the counter," Simms said.

Bluegrass Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Call Crime Stoppers today at 859-253-2020. It's a free call, and you can remain anonymous.
