LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It was a fight with a deadly consequence that happened Thursday, September 18th on Mark Avenue. There Steven Campbell was stabbed in the heart.

"I miss my son so much. I love him so much, my life will never be the same," said Theresa Parker through tears.

The time since has been hard for the family of the 22-year-old, that was weeks away from being married. The only comfort for them was the thought of justice.

"I thought it was going to be good, I mean prior to today, until I get the phone call that says there's going to be no indictment because this is going to be self defense," described Parker, saying it was because the suspect was "legally blind."

The news she was given didn't sit well.

"Yesterday I had hope, today I have nothing."

"My boyfriend is laying in the ground and you're just going to let this man walk after he took an innocent life," stated Manda Bentley, Campbell's fiance.

For Campbell's loved ones, the grand jury's decision not to indict the suspect came as a crushing blow, but they say they're not done seeking justice yet.

"They took my son's life, my only son. He's sitting on his couch every night, my son's laying in the cemetery. I just want justice," vowed Parker, "I will be going down tomorrow to file wrongful death charges against this man."

Bentley added, "I want justice for my boyfriend and we're not going to stop until we get it!"

The decision may not have gone their way, but the family is turning to one another for strength.

"Me and Manda are going to stick together. We're going to make it through this," said Parker.

Police did not charge any one in this investigation, instead they presented their findings to the grand jury to decide if any charges would be necessary.
