A woman is dead after an overnight crash in Perry County.
It happened around 11:30 Tuesday night on Highway 80 in Hazard. Kentucky State Police say troopers were patrolling, when they say they saw a passenger car driving at a high rate of speed, heading east. Troopers say they tried to pull the driver over, and the car crossed the westbound lane, went onto the shoulder of the road, and hit a rock cliff before overturning and landing back on the highway.
The driver, Ryan Cress, 29, of Jeff, and his passenger, Deborah Cress, 31, of Vicco, was taken to Hazard ARH. We're told Deborah Cress later died at the hospital, and Ryan Cress was airlifted to Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee.
The crash is currently under investigation, and KSP says neither person was wearing seatbelts, and toxicology reports are pending.
