Fight between two Winchester women ends with grandmother in jail


WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Winchester Police say a fight between a mother and daughter escalated, putting the grandmother in jail.

Melissa Hampton, 50, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and isnow booked in the Clark County Jail. Police say Tuesday night, Winchester Police got a call from Naisha Hampton. She told police that she and her mother got into an argument about her mother babysitting her baby while intoxicated. That's when police say the altercation got worse when Melissa Hampton pulled out a knife on her daughter while arguing. Melissa Hampton now faces two charges.

"The wanton endangerment steams from pulling a knife on her daughter, Naisha and the endangering the welfare of a minor results from her alcohol intoxication while caring for the child," Capt. Harvey Craycraft with Winchester Police told us Wednesday.

Winchester Police tell us no one was hurt. They say all three live together. Naisha Hampton was at work while her mother was babysitting.
