Police searching for man who fired shots in Lexington store robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- Lexington Police say a man fired shots during a grocery store robbery Thursday night.

It happened just before 8pm at Supermercado on Woodhill Drive.

Police say a man walked into the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.

They say he stole money from the clerk and a customer and when he ran off two employees chased him.

Police say the robber fired shots at them.

No one was injured and the robber got away.

A woman nearby says she tried to help police find him.

"He had his gun, running with his gun. And so I called 911, and when I called 911, I saw a van, a maroon van, come out from a side street with the side door open. And this guy jumps in it, and the van takes off, so I followed it to try to get the license plate," she said.

Lexington police have released surveillance pictures of the man they're looking for.

They say he's around six feet tall has a medium build, and is clean shaven.
