LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police say a man was shot in the leg after another man approached him and asked him for money.

They say the victim told police that around 2:45 a.m. Monday, a man drove up to him while he was walking near Village Drive and Cambridge Drive.

He said he threw some change towards the man in the car, who then shot him in the leg, right above the ankle, and then drove off.

Witnesses told police they think the gunman was in a red passenger car, but they weren't sure in which direction the suspect drove.

Police said they are investigating, but they have not yet found any shell casings.
