Bluegrass Crime Stoppers is a regional citizen/business sponsored non-profit commission of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government designed to enlist the help of citizens in the fight against crime. By providing information anonymously to the appropriate law enforcement agencies, citizens can receive cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of an offender involved in an unsolved felony crime. The program serves a seven county area and is funded primarily by public contributions and administered by a civilian board of directors representing a cross section of the community. The board raises the money necessary to operate the program, administers the funds and coordinates the program’s activities with various law enforcement agencies and participating media. The Crime Stoppers tip line is manned by trained police personnel who receive, process and pass on tip information to investigating officers. Callers are given a code number which is used in all subsequent calls and callers do not have to identify themselves.
CRIME STOPPERS IN SCHOOLS
CSIS is a program developed by Bluegrass Crime Stoppers to promote and maintain a safe environment throughout the community for middle and high school students. Using a “Tips-Phone Line”, students can call in to report any crime in and around schools, remain anonymous and even receive a cash reward if an arrest is made from the callers information.
All proceeds from this golf event will benefit Crime Stoppers and the CSIS Program including the payment/rewards program sponsored by Crime Stoppers. Rewards are paid for information leading to the arrest of persons who commit crimes in our community.
Crime Stoppers is a 501(C)3 organization with all contributions treated as charitable donations.
